Governments around the world are beginning to roll out central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).
This is an incredibly dangerous technology.
I wrote about it for Forbes this week:
Protecting Public Data In The Digital Age
This week, I published a piece on Rafael Cordón, creator of Simple Proof, the technology used to safeguard Guatemala’s most recent presidential election.
Simple Proof is one of the most important technologies we can use to preserve real information in the age of artificial intelligence (AI).
I very much hope that what Cordón and his team have created gains more traction, and I hope you dig the piece!
Another Strike For Democrats
When I interviewed Rep. Wiley Nickel (D-NC) for Bitcoin Magazine two weeks ago, he told me about how he’d penned a letter to the DNC stating that as they establish a “reset” with the Bitcoin/crypto industry, they should do the following:
include pro-digital asset language in the party’s platform
select a vice presidential candidate sophisticated in digital asset policy
select a pro-innovation SEC chair
engage with the industry in a meaningful way
This week, VP Harris selected Tim Walz as her running mate.
Walz owns no stocks, no bonds and doesn’t even own a home.
Why should we expect someone who doesn’t even invest in traditional assets to have any understanding at all about digital assets and the policy that surrounds them, much less be sophisticated in digital asset policy?
We shouldn’t.
Don’t believe what the Democrats say. Harris will be terrible for the Bitcoin/crypto industry. And she’s the only candidate of the three running that hasn’t stated that she’ll stop The Fed from issuing a CBDC.
That’s all for this week.
Hope you all had a great weekend, and here’s to a fantastic week ahead!
Best,
Frank

(For the record, there are also plenty of reasons not to vote Trump, which is why I’m not. I’ll be voting RFK.)
Great work all around, Frank!
