Happy Hot Sunday, everyone!
Speaking of hot, let’s talk about West Africa.
Back in 2009, I moved to Ghana to help develop a trade school there.
I was incredibly moved not just by the good nature of the Ghanaian people, but by how skilled so many of them were as craftspeople.
I’ve stayed in touch with some of my contacts there, and I have been helping one of them to pay his university tuition.
His name is Solomon and he continues to study carpentry and construction. He and some of the people he works with built the desk in the video below. Solomon narrates the video.
I could use a little help in helping Solomon to pay this semester’s tuition, so I’m asking for help from you, the readers of this newsletter.
If you feel so inclined and if you are not in a tight financial situation, please consider donating $5-20.
You can send money to me, which I will then send to Solomon in one lump sum. I will post screenshots of receipts of the money I receive and send in a future edition of the newsletter.
My Venmo handle is @francis-corva and my PayPal address is @fcorva. (No period in my PayPal handle.) If you don’t have Venmo or PayPal and would still like to contribute, please leave a comment and I will do my best to figure out another way to facilitate the payment.
If you know me, please shoot me a text before you send any money. I know times are tough economically for many, and I don’t want to collect more money than I’m aiming to - which is $300. So, if we’ve already reached the $300 goal, I may ask you to hold off on your donation for now.
If you don’t know me and read this newsletter, please limit your donation to $20.
Again, if you are in a tight financial spot, please don’t donate. Prioritize making sure you are on stable financial ground in these trying times.
My Published Pieces and Commentary from This Past Week
I shared my thoughts on behalf of Finder on the importance of paying attention to the U.S. Dollar Currency Index (DXY) right now for this piece in The Street.
I reviewed the Ledger Nano S Plus hardware wallet in great detail for Finder here. Storing the private keys to your crypto on a hardware wallet - and not on an exchange - is one of the best ways to protect your investment. If we make a video tutorial at Finder for how to set up a Ledger Nano S Plus, I will share a link to it. In the meantime, you can learn how to set one up by following the instructions in the video below.
I wrote a guest blog on behalf of Finder on whether or not markets have bottomed out for the Australian website Value Walk here. I may or may not have quoted Olivia Rodrigo and Avril Lavigne in it. I guess you’ll have to read it to find out.
And that’s all I’ve got for you.
I hope you’ve all had a wonderful weekend and here’s to a wonderful week ahead!
Best,
Frank
