Bitcoin in Namibia; Bitcoin Worldwide
My Interview with OKIN & My Global Bitcoin/crypto Regulation Piece
This week, I conducted and published the first interview for my YouTube channel — new renaissance capital.
It was a pleasure and an honor to speak with Nikolai ‘OKIN’ Tjongarero about Bitcoin adoption in Namibia.
I found OKIN on Twitter and began following him because I liked the vibe of his tweets.
I then worked up the courage to request an interview with him, which probably didn’t seem all that enticing to him given that I didn’t yet have any other interviews posted on the channel.
He was a great sport, though, as he agreed to do it.
In sharing information with one another before the interview, and in then speaking during the interview, we realized that we had a bunch of friends in common in Namibia.
I spent some time in the country back in 2016, and, as it turns out, he and I were probably at some of the same events. Wild.
We touch on this in the interview but primarily focus on all things Bitcoin in Namibia.
OKIN drops an immense amount of knowledge and shares a number of ways in which you can earn bitcoin (BTC) with little effort.
He also tells a story about how he made Bitcoin believers out of members of Namibia’s central bank. Truly legendary stuff. Dude is beyond legit.
I hope you enjoy the interview. Please do like the video and subscribe to the channel if you’re into this type of content.
This is the beginning of my journey interviewing people from around the world about Bitcoin. Come along for the ride with me :)
Speaking of around the world…
Global Bitcoin/crypto regulation
I recently spent quite a bit of time researching what Bitcoin/crypto regulation looks like in about 85% of the countries on Earth.
I got so into the process of putting this report together that I worked on it after hours just because I wanted it to be awesome.
You can check out the report here: Is Bitcoin legal? Cryptocurrency regulations around the world (Finder)
(I can already see it needs updating, as Namibia should be blue and not yellow. Sorry, OKIN!)
Don’t get bored
We’re at a stage in the Bitcoin/crypto market where price action is boring.
I recently wrote a piece for ValueWalk on behalf of Finder in which I offer tips on how you can take advantage of such a stage.
You can read it here: 5 Tips On How To Take Advantage Of A Boring Crypto Market (ValueWalk)
Another Bitcoin-positive contender jumps into the presidential race
The mayor of Miami, Francis Suarez, has announced he is joining the field for the Replication nomination for president.
Suarez, who takes his salary in Bitcoin, is the fourth person with a pro-Bitcoin stance to join the US presidential race.
He joins Vivek Ramaswamy, Ron DeSantis and Robert F. Kennedy Jr..
If you’ve yet to watch RFK’s speech at this year’s Bitcoin convention, I highly recommend you do so (after you watch my interview with OKIN, of course).
And that, my friends, is all for this week!
Thank you as always for reading! And thanks to everyone who’s subscribed to the YouTube channel and for the paid subscribers to this newsletter.
I recently moved from working full-time at Finder to working as an independent contractor. I still work for Finder but I also plan to write for some different outlets as well as focus on my own projects. I’d love to get to a point where I can predominantly work on my own projects, so any support helps!
Frank the Tank, signing off.
Best,
Frank
